A regulated marketplace, down to the millisecond

One of Europe’s longest-running digital asset exchanges. On an order book, every millisecond of drift is a financial risk; every approximation, a regulatory one. The system must absorb peaks without ever losing an order, or the trace of one.

The context

One of Europe’s pioneering digital asset marketplaces, operating under French supervision at a time when the regulatory framework was being written alongside the code. A continuous order book, institutional and retail clients, and one imperative: every euro and every satoshi counted, traced, accountable.

The work

Engineering of the real-time trading engine and its banking integrations: order execution, account keeping, reconciliations. Anti-fraud and compliance mechanisms woven directly into the payment provider integrations, and on-chain / off-chain synchronisation under strict consistency constraints: an internal ledger that never diverges from the chain.

What remains

Years in production on a market that never closes, with no lost order and no gap in traceability. And a conviction we have kept since: compliance is not a layer you add; it is a property of the system, or it does not exist.
